The structure of law firms that were more than 100 years old, where the CEO or the owners hired a trusted lawyer, seemed to continue to be adequate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"691\" src=\"https:\/\/lmintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-2-1024x691.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lmintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-2-1024x691.png 1024w, https:\/\/lmintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-2-300x203.png 300w, https:\/\/lmintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-2-768x518.png 768w, https:\/\/lmintelligence.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-2.png 1111w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-27mqa\">In 2020, the story is different. With a new global crisis due to COVID-19, companies are once again rethinking their legal costs. The hiring of legal services is closely linked to costs and numbers. Now it is the CFOs and in-house lawyers who seem to be the ones who decide on the hiring of legal services. Making legal services efficient becomes a necessity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-arvna\">En la actualidad, los t\u00e9rminos Legal Tech y Law Tech est\u00e1n a la orden del d\u00eda. Pero \u00bfexiste realmente una diferencia entre ambos? La respuesta es afirmativa, aunque parecieran ser terminolog\u00edas similares es importante diferenciarlas. En un webinar de Antonio Serrano, responsable del <a href=\"https:\/\/online.esade.edu\/certificado-profesional-en-legal-tech-en-la-era-digital\/?utm_source=thelawyermagazine&amp;utm_medium=website&amp;utm_campaign=diarioabordo1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Certificado en Legal Tech en la Era Digital<\/a> de MIT Professional Education en colaboraci\u00f3n con Esade, comprend\u00ed que la principal diferencia radica en que en el Legal Tech no se hace tanto uso de la Inteligencia Artificial, mientras que en el Law Tech s\u00ed existe una implementaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s activa de la Inteligencia Artificial. Asimismo, en dicho webinar se expuso que existen principalmente tres tipos de tecnolog\u00edas tanto en el Legal Tech como en Law Tech, siendo estas las siguientes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-9djtb\" class=\"translation-block\">1. <strong>Enabling technologies<\/strong>: cloud services or cybersecurity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ce7dd\" class=\"translation-block\">2. <strong>Support tools<\/strong>: office management programs, files, or automation programs, or electronic signature programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-eme2\">3. <strong>Solutions that assist or replace legal advice.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-4658r\">In Latin America we already find these types of technology. Let me present some of them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-kb0s\" class=\"translation-block\">In terms of enabling technologies, it is very common for legal departments (both in-house and law firms) to no longer have physical servers, but increasingly opt for cloud services such as One Drive, Dropbox, among others. Likewise, in terms of cybersecurity services, we already find companies such as Fintegrity (Panama) that provide cybersecurity audit services, and especially risk management and control services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-efcut\" class=\"translation-block\">As for <strong>support tools<\/strong>, just to name a few, we can find: <strong>electronic signature tools<\/strong> such as <strong>Signaturit<\/strong>, <strong>Docusign <\/strong>and\/or <strong>Adobe Sign;<\/strong> <strong>office management tools<\/strong> such as the solutions provided by <strong>Lemontech<\/strong> (Chile, Peru and Mexico); document automation tools such as the products provided by <strong>Legal Machine <\/strong>(Guatemala and Panama).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-f3acl\" class=\"translation-block\">As for <strong>solutions that help or replace advice<\/strong>, just to name a few we can find <strong>Kleros <\/strong>(Argentina) for arbitrations, in which Blockchain technology is implemented, or online legal services such as <strong>Esvidal <\/strong>(Peru); or online services also especially in labor matters such as <strong>GEBD Legal Tech Firm <\/strong>(Mexico).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-4gt62\" class=\"translation-block\">In Latin America, there is no doubt that the <strong>Legal Tech<\/strong> revolution has arrived.
